Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR)
Restoring Mental/Emotional Health
PSR provides a formal, goal-oriented curriculum-based program that provides daily activities directed towards assisting participants with a mental illness, or emotional disturbance to function at their highest level of independence within the community.
What is Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR)?
The Psychosocial Rehabilitation, also known as the Recovery Model, for mental health illness suggest that mentally ill individuals can be rehabilitated back into society and make a recovery that does not necessarily require the complete relief of symptoms. The recovery model is useful in treating the whole person, as opposed to treating just the mental illness. Lifestages’ PSR program consist of two or more consecutive hours per day provided to groups of adults in a nonresidential setting. It is statistically proven that individuals with physical ailments continue to live a very full life, with some difficulties that with training, may become minimal. Mental illness can be viewed in the same way. There is more to the individual than their mental/physical capabilities.
